My very first test movies
General
All movies are encoded with DivX 5 and have a resolution of 640 x
480. The movies are made with
Antechinus Animator from a set of
pictures. The pictures are made with a program called
ValisCam
using a
Creative Webcam Notebook-web
camera. The web camera I used has a CMOS chip, this
results in some less controllable/static lightning as you can see in the movies.
But the biggest advantage of this web camera is that it can be mounted to
LEGO easily as shown on the following pictures :

My first test movies that are not that bad
These are the first movies I made, I made them for testing purposes; to
teach me were the limits are and how I should work in order to make a big,
good movie.
The robbery |

Size : 2.574KB
Duration : 0:57
Camera : Creative Webcam Notebook
The first part I really like, in the second part I suffered from a
moving base plate :(. I really need to use bigger baseplates
instead of attaching small ones together. The walking of the
minifig could also use some more attention. I blocked the forklift
with a small needle so I could make it stick and move it freely! |
Dinner time |
|
|
Size : 1.077KB
Duration : 0:27
Camera : Creative Webcam Notebook
This movie ain't that bad, but it has some minor glitches. The
roof of the bar is open so the light could enter to allow a
clearer image of the shop owner. |
Getting tackled |
|
|
Size : 362KB
Duration : 0:03
Camera : Creative Webcam Notebook
Pretty basic. Animating a minifig standing up from the ground
wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. |
Marching and falling |
|
|
Size : 410KB
Duration : 0:02
Camera : Creative Webcam Notebook
This was a test with the
purpose of trying to walk a minifig. |

The following 3 movies show the same soldier but at a different frame rate.
They were the first movies I made with a webcam.

My very first test movies
These movies were the very first ones I made. They were taken with a
high quality digital camera and they show why you shouldn't use a digital
camera for LEGO Stop-Motion. I've tried to take the pictures with
flash and without flash and I also experimented on where to place the
external lightning. I discovered that instead of using the camera's
built-in flash I should use an external light source, this give better
and more stable results. Also, the digital camera is difficult to mount
and even pressing the button generates a slightly and unwanted moving of the
view.
The movies shows a LEGO basketball player from set 3562 waving hi and there is a moving wheel in the background.
